Yes it is very possible. It is very expensive to verify that you did it correctly and that it works as intended. Genetics are not like code so unless you are copying previous work expect a very long road

Mental disturbances from hashish and psychedelics, while similar symptoms, are completely different internally. I wouldn’t rule out psychedelics based on that experience.
