There's a helpful disclaimer section that states "Bias: I posted the poll on my personal blog, which could bias results in favor of my proposals." Another bias all voluntary surveys are prone to is prone to that's not li

I've seen many UI rollouts that carefully track user happiness metrics. All UI changes have in common that user happiness goes down for a short time after the change -- but for good changes, it goes back up and to an even higher level

Maybe what's new here is the suggestion of using a raw string literal for the assembly source? That does look neat (if minor).

That's what native used to be, but nowadays it's "not electron". Qt or wxWidget apps are considered native as well.

The obvious next step is to make this a JIT. The natural progression of JITs is to start with using llvm for the jit, only to realize that it's too slow and big for anything but AoT compilations since llvm is tuned for AoT with clang (

It sounds like the author doesn't quite know how cookies work. It's great that Firefox does cookie blocking by default, but it's not like not doing that is chrome-only -- and it's not chrome that's setting all these

https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/m/#!topic/chr... suggests this is an intern project. My guess is that some proof of concept will be committed, then the internship will end, then nobod

I generally dislike installing software. If there's a webapp that does something I want to do, a native app doing the same thing would have to be much much better to make up for the convenience of using a webapp

I'd prefer if Apple took care of security fixes instead of some third party. And they could ship newer versions if keeping the old ones secure is harder.

I don't understand why everyone is so excited about this. I don't like using brew. I use a Mac because things just work. It was annoying that the system versions were old, but most of the time they were still workable. To me, this

It's mildly interesting that the neovim patch for this [1] is just an import of the upstream vim patch [2], but with the test removed. 1: https://github.com/neovim/neovim/commit/4553fc5e 2: https:/

Subjectively it feels like NYT publishes a lot more negative articles about Deutsche Bank than about any other bank, or at least those articles get upvoted much more frequently here. Does anyone know what's up with that? I would'v

That bug was fixed in 14 days if I read that page right. The complaint here isn't just that the bug happened, but that it happened long ago, is fairly visible, and is still around a year later.

So implementing this took zero work? Probably not. Do you think it will cost nothing to maintain? Probably neither. So I don't see how "in no way" could be true.

On one hand, it's commendable how seriously Microsoft takes backward compatibility. On the other hand, I can't help but feel that this is part of what's holding them back in their "modern browser" efforts. Edge felt

This would've been a lot more convincing before mobile happened a decade ago. Reading PDFs on my phone is a pain, and it hasn't improved at all in the last ten years. Looking at the web on mobile used to be painful too, but it

If you want to get a Visa at some point in your live: things get much easier to if you have a university degree. All these "don't need a degree" posts always seem a bit US-centric.

If there's ever a project as large as Chrome written in a non-C++ language, I guarantee you it will have these bugs as well -- due to use of `unsafe`, or bugs in the compiler, or what have you.
