That's not wrong, but Apple's the only company he's treating fairly. So it's still "writing on a curve", if you will.

It's interesting that even gruber's review isn't all that positive.

>T he battery lives up it [sic] its all-day billing, but sometimes just barely. If a new watch barely makes it through the day, a months-old watch won't.

That reversible watch face seems pretty gimicky. That looks more like something they did because it's hard to do, not like something that's useful or good looking.

I signed up for this last month. Apparently only most things are free, as I got a bill for $4 after one month. I tried contacting support to figure out what's up with that. I haven't heard back yet.

I'd rather they'd push Firefox on Android more. Firefox OS seems stillborn, but Firefox/Android is a good product and mobile could need more browser competition.

Having a consistent style actually helps a lot in large code bases. But these days, this can be automated with clang-format, so I agree that it's a bit silly that this is checked manually. The bit about reusing i is a good catch though

I think the auto-update, crash reporting and usage tracking code as well as the codecs are open source, they're just not compiled in by default in chromium builds.

> Source files that haven’t changed will no longer be re-compiled by default That's a nice example of "if you're not embarrassed of 1.0, you shipped too late".

I'd guess that people who think "you can do this" instead of "I can do this" heard the phrase "you can do this" often, for example from their parents, other relatives, or friends. If that's true, then

That's what I'm asking: For which part of Chrome is the source code not available?

What does this reply even mean? Of course it's distributed as a binary -- should regular users compile it themselves? Advanced users can compile chromium if they want; from what I understand it's virtually identical to the chrome

My theory: People search for stuff on Google. The search results page has a result with a download from abu-farhan.com. People click that link on the search results page, the download starts. Now google.com has "hosted" a malware

Another perspective is that Google found a bug through which they (and other businesses) can be owned, and ms is saying "fuck you" to google by not fixing it for months. Without this disclosure strategy, google wouldn't have

The difference between android and iOS and windows phone is that android has an open bug tracker, making issues like this a lot more visible. Maybe this issue doesn't affect many people, or google determined that it only happens for ph

I doubt that was an intentional strategy. Google seems to not push worse apps to iOS in general. The new Maps UI launched on iOS first, for example.

clang-format is amazing. I think it can format more languages than just C++ too. For example js, I think?

I think the notion of OS X being pretty good until up to 10.6 and then getting worse, with many new features feeling "strategic" (for Apple) instead of useful resonates with people. I have this impression too, at least.

> APIs are valuable IP That's up to the courts to decide. People can only hope that they decide against this, else it becomes illegal to create porting layers. For example, wine (the program) would then be illegal.
