This right here is what the internet should be about. Stop debating whether this makes sense to do. It doesn't, and it doesn't have to. It's an absurd academic pursuit, and that makes the world a slightly better and more inte

It's really tough. I bet that a good % of failed early stage startups fail because the founders simply can't keep up with the rejection and negativity. The simple truth is you just have to keep trying, for years and years possibly

That's not how bitcoin was marketed in the early days. And I don't trust it even remotely as a long term store of value.

It'll just be yet another technical advancement that we have to adapt to. And we will. What gives me comfort is that there's still an operator with a motive. It's funny, as I was reading your comment I half expected it to end

Usually you can only go after the leaker or anyone republishing the IP. Simply having access to it isn't a crime. Perhaps they could issue some sort of takedown notice for the schematics.

Robinhood is not the first. The whole concept of day trading already "gamified online trading into an addiction", and that started in 1975 and had its peak popularity in the 80s. The author is really just complaining that this gam

Yes, Electron is a bit of a battery hog. But the Slack app itself is horrendous. If you read through their API docs and then try to figure out how to recreate the app, you'll see why. The architecture of the API simply does not match t

The nice thing about batteries is that you can add them up to whatever voltage you need. Common electronics voltages are 5V, 9V, 12V, 18V, 24V. You can achieve all of these with different numbers of rechargeable AA or 9V batteries. However,

I experienced the same issue when I was in college. I discovered that the way to learn for me was to find a niche category of projects and do them on my own. I actually wrote a blog post about it a while back: https://burakkanber

No no, that didn't sound aggressive at all! Though I still wouldn't say the project was trivial, just very limited in scope. And had I done everything perfectly -- meaning, being able to stream code from my head with no errors --

That's a good point! I did not need to relearn core concepts. The bulk of that 12 hours was actually spent debugging negotiation and timing/race issues in the signaling/SIP layer. Even for me, figuring out how the WebRTC API

WebRTC doesn't do everything for you; it's really just responsible for tying together ICE with media streams. Signaling is up to you to figure out. For instance, multiple clients in one room: this is part of the signaling layer an

I also decided to learn WebRTC and built a video chat app project: https://zonko.chat The last time I did any p2p networking was back in 2002 or something when you still had to do it all manually. We used all sorts of fun tricks

STUN fails under symmetric NAT, not strict NAT. That google document makes no citations of that 92% figure, but I assume that's for desktop traffic only. Pretty much all mobile/cellular connections would require TURN too.

It's pretty terrible. ORMs like Doctrine use annotations because their philosophy is that a data mapping class should be a pure class that you decorate with annotations. I personally hate that approach and have had no issues avoiding t

To be fair, I've been working in PHP for nearly 20 years and I've been able to avoid annotations almost entirely, except for that one time I used Doctrine and then threw it in the trash.
