Home price appreciation depends on location, so it's hard to generalize. Also unlike stock investments, a mortgage gives you massive leverage.

From reading this article, it appears that these are not Over The Counter bets that are placed between one Investment bank with another. Rather this is a product created and sold by the grid operator NYISO in order to hedge price volatility

ID software was based in Dallas from what I know. Carmack and Romero were the original founders. This smells like Zenimax is trying to make a fast buck.
