It's amazing work. The big question is keep two renderers, CPU & GPU, or switch to just GPU? Switching to only GPU I think implies the need for at least a reference GPU backend such as mesa.

Couldn't agree more. When I was young magic software seemed magic. Then I found out it's 10x harder to debug when it breaks.

Reading this makes me afraid of writing C code all over again. Undefined behavior is almost impossible for a programmer to 100% of the time detect (not that this particular regehr post is on UB).

For the best people there's an unbounded amount of work. But if you're not the best too bad for you. A lot more fields are becoming winner takes all (acting, athletes etc. are all this way).

I mostly opted out. I became much happier when I stopped looking at other people's feeds & instead only email/text to keep in contact.

This is just a suggestion but have you tried running? I'm also a caffeine /addict/ and running is my substitute of choice. Exercise is a huge stimulant (endorphins)

I'll admit it, I love drugs. Uppers, downers, I love them all. But I TRULY do not understand addiction. I just don't, and I've tried plenty of soft and hard drugs. I'm not sure what I want to say but perhaps just that it

Going by Paul Phillips's (largest contributor to the scala compiler) YouTube rant, https://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=4jh94gowim0 , nobody ever gets over the cliffs. His rant is great, for more than just scala.

That's why I prefer the data from satellite measurements. There's a couple for surface temperature at http://www.nsstc.uah.edu/climate/ & http://www.remss.com/measurements/upper-air-t

It's difficult even with that. The mean temperature is calculated via inference (obviously you can't have a thermometer everywhere). And there's occasional adjustments to how the global temp. is inferred. The NOAA recently di

It's not actually possible without making inferences via models. The NOAA recently switched their global temperature model [0]. [0] http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/2015/5/supplemental/pag..

What's happened to Germany? They used to be one of the best in mathematics. But the recent IMO results are very poor (27th this year). Has their education system declined or something else perhaps? I know they have a low birthrate....

A point assumed in the article is that MS among others is due to genetics. Pathogen(s) are another possible casual trigger. To quote "our genes didn't evolve to kill us".
