Both are sources of vulnerabilities, of course. But I believe a nice string interpolation implementation can allow for validation (like the java one did). That means that whenever you are working with texts, a library can enforce constraint

It is a source of so many security issues. Retracting a JEP that does not have broad support is the sane thing to do. There are enough languages with features that have not had every kink solved before standardisation. It is always a source

I don't know about the actual truth, but my feeling is that FreeBSD has gotten a lot faster in recent years. Some of the netflix patches literally made some of my workloads 20% faster over night.

Lightweight in terms of speed. Tmux makes even the slowest terminal feel like a Ferrari. People say the use the likes of alacritty for the speed, and then they run tmux and make it slower than even gnome-terminal.

Could this be extended to give us XOCB? I am not sure it would make much sense with the OCB size recommendations.

That depends on how apple decides to implement it. They are a huge player, and I am sure they can make some kind of agreement with google so that they can message through the jibe servers which use the signal protocol.

It does on my android phone, so it doesn'ct seem to be a limitation of the protocol.

They already added e2ee. If I long-press a message right now and press "show more information" it says "Message with RCS with end-to-end encryption". Their own documentation claims as much: https://support.goo

Sure, but personally I am very happy for both my English and my German as it gives me access to culture I would not otherwise be able to enjoy. I have always been curious about French internet culture as well. It seems like the French inter

I think something changed culturally as well. When my parents grew up any moderately educated person was expected to speak different several different languages. Very few in my generation speak three languages, even in my rather internation

If you have external antennas you can (or at least could) actually try this. Having the RAM just behind the antennas (by holding them in an open case) with a clear line of sight to the router produced significantly worse results than moving

Guile scheme has a way to easily see the result of many of these optimisations since they are done on the source level. This means you see the result of inlining, DCE, constant propagation and partial evaluation. Extremely handy and helps e

Talking about Rogaway: I implemented OCB3 a long time ago as an exercise (after failing for many weeks to get GCM working. I am neither a programmer nor mathematician). Iirc it could have any nonce length up to 120ish bits. I don't rem

I think it is a matter of how you are exposed to programming. I started with pascal at 9, and I wrote my first (VM-)bootable OS in junior high school (around the age of 14). Not as fancy as this of course, but it booted into an environment

It says to use a multiplexer for tabs and splits, but doesn't that negate some of the performance claims? Tmux and screen are pretty notorious for slowing things down.

I never thought I would say this but: I am a pretty recent flatpak convert. This thing just made me more convinced about how it is a good thing to let the Devs deliver the apps themselves and let the distro people do the distro stuff. After

Well, I once wrote a small scheme that did loop unrolling and allocated lists in as many steps as the unroll went, which was capped at a maximum of 5. That worked surprisingly well, but there were lots of edge cases since I am a professiona

Most languages with linked lists as an important part (lisps mostly) all have well optimized linked lists that end up with a lot better memory locality.

Some things I miss on android: a fast SMB or sftp app. I have a gigabit network. 7mb/a is not acceptable. My phone can do at least 500mbit when speed testing over WiFi.
