I have used your beta for a little while and I think you guys are making a very very nice product. Super polished and I really really like how you guys do the "edit" mode where you can add tabs and pages and widgets. Very nicely done. From

We're hiring a Rails Dev in Portland, OR. We do 1000 req/minute. We have tables with 100+mil rows. 30" monitors, MBPs, and the office is on the 5th floor looking out at 7 (of 9) bridges, the river and downtown. There's a bar 1/2 a block awa

MediaWiki is a ghetto, FYI. Once you go MediaWiki, you will never be able to leave. Why? As far as I know, no one has ever been able to duplicate the parser in any other language.

I use this too. And, FWIW, I see some people suggesting merb, which is cool, but even the guy that wrote merb(ezmobius) uses this now.

We use it (and LOVE it) at AboutUs.org (Portland start-ups represent!). Here's what our CTO said: “I've waited 15 years for a computer program that out-performs index cards. Pivotal Tracker's smooth interface and network-native architecture

Pretty much. Use the $$ you save to buy a big monitor, more ram (coastmemory.com is my fav for the last decade, don't buy from apple), or a better chair.

This question makes me giggle. Who the fuck would care about how many LOC they write a day? I've never even considered this. Things I care about in my code (thanks Kent): Runs all the Tests? Reveals all the intention? No duplication? Fewes

I couldn't past the design and immediately closed it. The color scheme is truly awful.

So, if you won't do the code cause you don't know how and you never will, why do you think you can also do the design? I've never really understood this. Most of the time this line of thinking leads to even worse design than your code coul

Then he's not the CEO. He's the Founder and Product Lead, which still doesn't mean he should be designing user interfaces. Now, if the post said "What should a budding user interface designer read?" then the other answers are all great. But

Which of the books say that a CEO shouldn't be meddling in User Interface Design and should worry about running the business instead?

Totally agreed. That doesn't negate anything I just said. It's stateful. It's XML. It's a stateful XML protocol (and it happens to also have presence, which I left out, but does make some people's knickers wet).

"which is a stateful chat protocol" You're missing that it's not stateful chat protocol, it's stateful xml protocol (that has, so far, been use mostly for chat). People are excited that it's fast, stable (some of the implementations anyway)

LOL, I don't think the github guys are worried about pissing off the lighthouse guys. Hell, you can do issue tracking in git itself with Scott Chacon's awesome Ticgit ( http://github.com/schacon/ticgit/tree/master ). I would think it would

I totally agree 100%. If I see rockstar or ninja, I skip right past your ad. You want to get my attention? Tell me you're looking for a professional, and you're going to treat me like one. I want to know that I get 8 hours a week to work on

Actually, a really good way to grab attention is by not doing what everyone else is doing. So, NOT looking for a "rock star" would be a good start.
