It's everything. Sometimes I try to work from coffee shops or sitting in a bad chair (one of those folding ikea chairs) and it's awful. Can't get ANYTHING done. In fact, I think my single best purchase for my business was a Herman Miller Mi

Could you talk about how you guys decided on the design for the front page? Or, more generally, home much time/money did you spend on marketing and was it in house or an agency? IMO, it's pretty shocking. Your target market general populati

For me, it was usually something like, guaranteed 40hr/week for 4 weeks or just paying for 80 hours up front. So, instead of working for someone for 2 weeks, and then getting paid, I was already paid and thus knew I had a 2 week bubble shou

This is spot on. If you know he's your guy, offer him $$ up front or guaranteed billable hours per week for a lower rate. As a former freelancer for 10 years, I'd often dropped my rate if I was guaranteed $$ or hours.

Sorry but I totally disagree. I don't need any more links to TechCrunch. I think I can figure out how to subscribe to TC's RSS after the first 100 or so simple links. I tried to start a discussion instead, based on the fact that he doesn't

WTF is a "Graphic Web Designers"? I don't even apply at places that can't come up with a real job title. Are you looking for a Graphic Artist, Web Designer, or Designer? Or, more likely, something like a UI Designer or even UX/IA Engineer?

I've found you'll rarely find something inexpensive and really good, but you'll find really expensive and not good at all very very often. I saw, recently, a "screen" delivered to a company from a high priced design firm in SF that had ~800

The big difference between the two is that rFacebook is a giant hack of a library and even the guy that made it realizes this (and thus, doesn't even maintain it) and Facebooker is a set of Ruby objects that makes it so you don't even have

Seeing as how no one remembers domain names and just googles for it all the time, I don't see any problem with them. I don't like fooapp.com cause non-web app people don't call it an "app". Campfirenow.com is a really good one. backpackit.c

If this is a dilemma to you, then you don't need to be doing either. There's no point in making some software for the sake of making the software. The only point to making software is filling a need, so if you have none of those, then don't
