Like Joey I hate fans in my machines. I am a long term ThinkPad user. My main machine is still a T420s (the s model is a bit lighter than the regular T420) however I would love something like the Yoga 3 Pro but with a ThinkPad design. The C

I checked a few months ago but there was nothing specifically for desktop apps only universal ones and even then they were mostly voice-oriented things so you can "plug in to Bing". Ugh. As far as I can tell it is not [yet?] possi

When I first used Cortana as part of Windows 10 I was quite disappointed when I found out it lacked quick commands like this. Sure it has some understanding of what is written such as "remind me to call Jim at 2pm" but it is ver

I am really loving this new Microsoft. What I would love would be for Microsoft to offer resources to get Clang/LLVM working on Windows as well as MSVC so it can be a first class compiler in VS.

I am surprised things such as Cinavia[1] isn't more widely used for tracking. It is designed to cut off the audio after 20 minutes which you see on a PS3 with many Bluray Disc rips released on torrents. For that to work obviously you n

My point was that it doesn't seem to offer anything more yet costs more. Yes $100 is a little under 3 hours work so justifying the cost isn't a problem but considering I already paid for VAX I am not one to just throw money away :

Yeah 21CC and U&UCP are for once you are comfortable with the language not for beginners. U&UCP will be a book to keep by for many years as well as it is pretty much the gospel for pointers IMHO.

K&R is a great book however I feel there are better books these days. My two personal recommendations are C Programming A Modern Approach by K N King (2nd edition) and Programming in C by Kochan. However the exercises in K&R are ex

This is actually the only thing holding me back from getting a new machine. I need one, badly. But I also need at least 16GB RAM. I have 8 in my current (very old) machine and it is by far the biggest restriction I have. Getting a new mac

I find it strange they still use this as a selling point. My only computer is a Dell laptop from 2008 (Studio 1737) and it wakes from sleep (Windows 8.1) in ~1 second. Sure I don't have connected standby but to be honest I don't r

I would love a bigger battery for a slightly bigger device but this isn't what Apple is aiming for. Apple design the hardware to work with what they want it to look like not design a device around the hardware. I used to think that was

If you live in a "no knock" state you are not nuts at all. I am from the UK and think the whole no knock thing is insane when everyone has easy access to guns (both legally and illegally). It is just asking for people to die.

Especially with the Community Edition of VS making it really easy for pretty much anyone to get access to VS. I like GCC and everything but I will be happy to leave it behind if I am honest. The politics are just too damn much for me these
