When IDEs entered the market, they were the talk of the town. Improve your programming speed. Blazingly fast refactoring. A graphical debugger and logging information. Intellisense, inline documentation and the whole nine yards. Many develo

Wow, so to prevent AI scrapers from harvesting my data I need to send all of my traffic through a third party company that gets to decide who gets to view my content. Great idea!

I never understood move semantics until I learned Rust. Everything is move by default and the compiler makes sure you never leave things in an unusable state. This was a difficult mental hurdle to get over with Rust, but once you do, move s

“Chill” and “grow“ don’t often go together. You get complacent and fall into routine. You grow when you’re pushed and do uncomfortable things.

Ever feel like creating and nurturing an opensource project? Some of those responses make me second guess doing anything with opensource.

I'm going back to the basics. Going to use C, C++ and Rust for all of my development projects, tools, services, etc. I'm not going to use LLMs or even LSPs. Read documentation. Understand the tools and languages. Build solid softw

It's a bit ironic the page is protected by Cloudflare. So, all of our traffic is going through some other company to log and track before it gets to you, eh?

The problem is in the unknowns. The "unknowns" in a C implementation means arbitrary code execution and all kinds of nasty. The unknowns in a Rust implementation means a crash/denial of service. I know which I prefer.

Perhaps I misremembered or things changed? For instance, the os/user results in a dynamicly linked executable: https://play.golang.com/p/7QsmcjJI4H5 There are multiple standard library functions that do it.. I rec

Once you use CGO, portability is gone. Your binary is no longer staticly compiled. This can happen subtley without you knowing it. If you use a function in the standard library that happens to call into a CGO function, you are no longer sta

Not sure if it's related-- but anyone else get a buzz or pop in their headphone/spear when loading certain web pages? I've been curious if this is some form of browser fingerprinting or just crappy speakers.
