Once of the biggest hang-ups people seem to run into is the concept of layers. In photoshop layers are abstract and infinite. In gimp they are explicit and finite. In gimp a layer has size, that may or may not match the image size. They can

That makes no sense. SVG _is_ the vector equivalent of PNG. Just because it's defined in an xml namespace that can be directly embedded in html, doesn't mean it is somehow bound to it.

The one reason that might make sense is if the objective is to write webapps using webassembly. Rust can compile to webassembly. But that seems more like it would displace something like React or other frontend frameworks rather than Rails.

That's because the device is input only. By default Ardour uses the same device for capture and monitoring. The reason is that different audio devices have their own internal clocks, and using more than one devices introduces clock dri

If you're working on recording projects on linux, why the heck are you using Audacity? Seriously, save yourself a lot of headaches with Ardour.

There's a very nice FOSS software emulator called SetBFree. The gui interface is a little goofy, but for real usage you would connect a midi keyboard controller anyway. https://github.com/pantherb/setBfree The bes

As someone who has had to implement STIG, that is not a realistic method. This stuff is implemented via automation over hundreds of nodes at a time, and having to click through anything in automation is slow and error prone. STIG itself is

Nice! I had been wondering if the move to HTTP-3 over UDP would open up possibilities for media over a multicast HTTP transport. Looks like somebody's already doing just that. Only downside is that multicast sucks over wifi when many d

No need to have somebody hand over a server. If the implant happened in two segments of the supply chain as the article claims, it shouldn't be very difficult to find one.

The point about scale, is that if this happened at the scale that is being claimed, it shouldn't be too hard to find a compromised unit.

All this assertion / denial stuff is getting tiresome. If this compromise was implemented at a significant scale, and people in-the-know have figured out how it functions, it shouldn't be too hard to get hold of one and provide a

Perhaps open-source software licenses should start including a stipulation that anybody using open-source software in any product they produce or consume, must submit to arbitration for any software patent suits.

Try using fwknop. Similar concept to Port knocking, but much more secure.

Iter-frame parallelizability is made possible (at least in the context of h264) by using slices. It comes with a minor penalty in the resulting data compression ratio.
