Is there any indication that there won't be Apps available for these glasses? I don't think so. At any rate, the counter argument is that opening it up to 3rd party developers means letting people shit up your field of vision with ads, whic

There are lots of Instagram clones out there but choosing one of those means losing Instagram's social network, which (as a moderate user of Instagram) I wasn't so hot on doing.

Really happy to see this since I'm making the switch from iOS and this is the one thing that either didn't exist on Android or have a similar analog.

So prostitution is consensual, except when it's not. I would call that not consensual .

I find it quite disturbing that so many HN posters think sex with a prostitute is consensual.

Ever wish sometimes you could take money away from Kickstarter projects? LSL is one of those things that should be left in the '80s.

If legislation is the major obstacle, then what does it matter how long it takes Google? This is everyone's problem.

It's also not a coincidence that this story broke the same day Facebook tried to assert trademarks over terms like "book" and "wall".

Well, pre-IPO, seeing the resources Google sank into its data centers would let competitors estimate search ad revenue, which is a figure they wanted to hide.

This is just a relic of the pre-IPO days when Google kept their infrastructure secret because they didn't want anyone being able to guess how big search was. Beyond that, Google does a lot of things to run their data centers cheaply - thing

I agree with you about the importance of ecosystem on the iPad vs the iPhone. However, if you're going to compare an iPad to an iPod - it's not just ecosystem that made the iPod dominant but Apple's willingness to introduce a whole line of

Are you sure? I would think that malls make a ton more money off of people popping in and out looking for specific items than people who hang out there all day, look for the best deals, sales (which are probably loss-leaders), etc. I have

Exactly. In other words, it would have been the PERFECT excuse for Microsoft to price-gouge the same customers that need thousand-seat Office licenses by not being able to offer them a discount.

It's a lot more nuanced than the WSJ article made it seem. Google and other web advertisers engaged in what most would consider normal activity, but that Apple had specifically disabled in Mobile Safari. Here's a good explanation from Joh

Personally, I'm really happy to see the tech blog echo chamber start slinging mud at each other instead of whatever the tech company to hate du jour is. The more they make themselves the story the more irrelevant they become.
