To be fair to reddit, they're doomed either way. A lot of the subreddits that have been banned haven't been banned because of their content but because they were involved in doxing people. Some examples include /r/incels

Aren't most of the cameras in the UK private as well? Obviously that doesn't mean much but it is different to places like china in that way.

Damn, I'd never realised things had gotten that bad. I willingly share photos of myself online but that's my choice. It's sad that even privacy nuts can't hide themselves anymore.

I agree. It seems to come from the silicon valley culture more than anything. After all Peter Thiel, one of the more extreme examples of this sort of thinking, got a philosophy bachelors degree iirc.

Exactly. As someone who's only lived in commonwealth countries and consumes a lot of printed media, I've never come across this term before, it just looks odd to me.
