Illegal != breach of contract. They control the activation servers, they can just refuse activation if they felt you've violated the contract.

If it's safe to say so - I don't wanna jeopardize your methods here - how did you obtain it? As far as I can tell, normal consumers can't buy them "legit", but they are "illegitimately" resold anyways, whi

I've read[1] that it's possible to legally obtain LTSC without volume licensing by purchasing a few other Microsoft thingies. Is such a method how you did this, or did you unfurl your sails? Btw (rant incoming), this isn't a

Huh. TIL. I guess it also depends on your threat model. If you are only browsing and in "Safest" mode, I suppose it's tolerable. But I agree that logging into anything requires EASE to be on.

Probably because hidden services don't need (or usually use) HTTPS, and they haven't bothered to find an easy way to automatically switch it on and off when alternating to the clearnet.

Something like that. By default, HTTPS Everywhere uses a list of HTTPS-capable sites. It doesn't automatically HTTPS-ize the sites outside of that list or block HTTP connections. You have to click the "Encrypt All Sites Eligible&q

Unfortunately, it seems like the 68010 is the only one completely out of production. You can find all the others easily on Digikey, even the '060. It seems like the 68030 would be ideal for both power and simplicity; 32-bit, better tha

They seemed to do what no other (perhaps very few) places have done; have real vintage machines accessible via the internet[1]. I know there are still real-hardware microcomputer BBS's (the C64 scene is arguably the biggest), but is th

Jobs said the same thing (about new Macs) about PowerPC in 2006. By 2007, Macs were all Intel, and the Intel-only Snow Leopard debuted in 2009. Complete abandonment of Leopard in 2011. I give it 5 years at the most.

The only difference between a 2012 and 2014 Mac Mini is that the 2014 is less upgradeable and has a worse processor. There is no technical reason to drop support, only Apple Logic(TM).

I agree that it would be best to ignore him, because I concur that the story of McCandless is seen too often as romantic instead of cautionary. However, it didn't seem to me that Krakauer painted McCandless as too rosy. He seemed to in

That's the issue. If we can't handle the black swan events in time, we'll at least have a backup. Granted, this doesn't cover bigger black swan events like gamma ray bursts, where the entire solar system is screwed, but

I've heard of these before; they are very cool. The only problem, as far as I've seen, is a smaller frequency range and lower gain compared to tubes or transistors. Not crazy smaller or lower, but don't expect a single magnet

Out of curiosity, since you log into accounts via Tor, are you still concerned about exit node snooping these days? Do you enable the strict mode in HTTPS Everywhere, or do you trust that site-enforced HTTPS is enough?
