I am immune. The trick is to become conscious of the process. Put another way: the immune mind operates on a higher level of abstraction and can objectively see lower levels - you allow the memes to run in brain cycles but you are su and ki

Ask HN: Why can't we build unhackable software?

For the sake of argument let's assume credentials are not hackable. My question: is the site itself hackable?

Nope, a car is not a system that was built to be 'sold', it was built to transport people/things safely. If you remove a part of a system and the system still works as intended, it was not part of the system. The head-rest ca

No part of a system is the most important part, from a car to a huge organization, all parts are equally required to interact and hence make such system 'work'. Having a clear functional organization at the start (and respect it t

Focus on one app: Whatsapp. Say this is the mid 90's and you want to make a dent on the mobile market. So you keep costs low and put a cheapo camera on the thing along a semi-decent mp3 player. But there is one big problem: your Konia

How much is this 'fixed & discounted' fee for an app? Just to stir your offer: there are several outsourcing shops at $6-$10 (USD)/hour, full payment on delivery, proven experience. Can you offer the same?

That is a very 'utopian' view. Changes are gradual. Even if we do invent perfect bots to manufacture and provide services, the capital expenses to acquire them will be huge, tons of business will take decades to adopt them. Until

This cause is based on the wrong assumption: products and services are NOT getting more expensive (aside from health care and housing but I predict those too will become more affordable thanks to bots). And it is precisely b/c of autom

Separation of believe(faith) and science is also a meme.

by bikamonki 11y ago
However, once we have the turbo-charged MRI that can map memes (assuming memes are neural patterns), then we could also 'explain' faith; since it seems faith is also a meme, no?

Memetic analysis would not undermine it, it would explain it ;) But I guess explanation kills the magic. In any case, I agree with you, 'deniers' of memetics tend to be more spiritual/religious. Again, memetics would explain

First ask yourself if the project really needs its own REST API server. 9 out of 10 times I end up using a BAAS service like parse.com where: user management (auth) is built-in, there is cloud code in case something must be run server-side,
