Kinda agree, but they don't have a button probably to prevent people from habitually pressing the button to continue. Training your users to bypass security measures is not good security.

I think I’m fortunate that I find cigarettes fairly easy to pick up and put back down. Don’t get me wrong, I get hooked like the rest of us, but I seem to naturally fall off the hook after some time. I usually pick them up to cope with inte

This will bring only good things to the ecosystem. Your app can’t support itself without tracking, and your users don’t want to pay? Maybe your app doesn’t provide as much value as you think. Advertising is a race to the bottom, so kudos to

Haven’t used it in years, but Heroku was really great in this respect. It was very easy to just focus on making a good app instead of trying to configure everything myself. I guess there’s probably not much demand for this kind of thing at

Honest question: aren’t schematics trade secrets? Won’t public schematics make it easier for others to copy? That seems like a big deal to me. If I were designing a new piece of technology, I wouldn’t necessarily want to publish my schemati

Yes, in my mind it has exactly the same meaning as “how do you like them apples?” When I was a teenager my cousin hit me with a new one that I kind of like: “put that in your juice box and suck on it”

I haven’t used PHP in years, but Laravel was such a fun and productive framework to work in. It really has a way of making you feel like a “code artisan”, something I typically only hear coming from Rails developers. In contrast, every No

I was a Sublime user, then Atom, and now I’m a VS Code user. In 2021, what reasons are there to use Sublime over VS Code? Performance is the only one that comes to mind, but there are surely others... right?

Louis, while sometimes brash, has got to be one of the most genuine people on YouTube. As far as I can tell there is nothing about his content which is abusive. While I’m still not really sure how I feel about right to repair, I would hate

I would bet that sorting isn’t so simple, at least if you want it to be any good. If you did a naive chronological sort, I imagine you would end up with a whole lot of irrelevant results at the top. There is just too much stuff out there. T

And that is all they should care about if the product is EOL. Good software engineering is all about building something that meets current business needs while being flexible enough to adapt to future needs. When you lose this flexibility

I definitely do this, but I had no idea that it makes people uncomfortable. Am from Texas. I’m trying to rationalize this now... I guess I think of it as tension defusing? Definitely going to be more cognizant of this.

We have a deploy preview system at work and it is so valuable. I see less value in the collaboration tools built on top of these previews, but it’s cool nonetheless.

While that is denotatively a conspiracy, most people think of conspiracies as something outlandish, not business as usual for the CCP. I think that’s what the parent comment was getting at, anyway.

Agreed. I haven’t thought about this stuff since taking gen chem in college, so I went and looked up the phase diagram for Neon, as an example. At low pressures, it looks like as little as 15 Kelvin is enough to make Neon a gas.

I read your comment, thought “to get clicks, duh”, and then I clicked through the link. This is a research paper. I would like to echo your question: why? Does academia incentivize clickbait?

Exactly. Being assertive and firmly negotiating doesn’t mean you have to be a jerk. Just the opposite, actually: if you’re being a jerk, you’re probably not not negotiating well.
