Sorry, I'm not a musician so I can't comment as anything more than a listener, but I enjoyed listening to it. Thanks for posting.

Does anyone have experience where newer kindles or other e-readers keep them awake less than other ones? I have a 1st generation kindle paperwhite, but I still feel like the front light on it keeps me from getting sleepy versus just readin

I agree. My team is just more productive in C#, so we just stay there as much as possible. As you say, the ability to work on just solving the actual problem is very under valued.

Thats actually a pretty sweet idea. Only take the generator with you when you need it.

I'm always surprised how little CHE gets talked about. Is there an alternative that has better traction? I tried it a few years ago and conceptually it was really ahead of its time in terms of spinning up a dev environment on the fly

I second this. Please discuss this with some people in person. If possible see a counselor. You have value in this world that you aren't seeing for yourself. Also, many times in life those periods when you seem stuck are also times

I've had the same experience. Understanding how the thing you are programming actually works can really help, at least in certain domains.

Thank you so much for the recommendation. I had checked this audio book out this summer, but procrastinated ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ on listening to it. Just checked it out again.

I'm not single-issue, but its definitely at the top of my requirements list. Just bought a pixel 3a to replace my galaxy s8 that broke. The headphone jack was probably the single biggest influence on what I bought. That along with p

That is definitely the balancing act with events. They are great in certain spots, but can become a big pain if they are used for everything.

First, I find that internships are great for this. You can bring someone in for a summer. If they show drive then we really try and get them converted to full time upon graduation. Second, I'm going to turn it around on you and ask

Exactly. This is one reason I like the current job market. People like this are forced to look in the mirror and ask "Why is nobody taking this job?".

Yeah, I wasn't really commenting on the religious discussion. More on the dismissal of the positives of volunteering. To each their own I guess. I am certainly no expert, but I can't help but feel that a lot of mental health str

I'm really surprised by how negative the comments are on this one. I mentor a young man once a week and it has been a huge positive influence on me and my mental health. It really helps me be more "others centered".

Drove through Idaho on the way to Spokane from Omaha and was so struck by Coeur d'alene I made sure to go back for a vacation years later.

I often wonder about that. We recycle as much as we can, but I would like to know more about which things I put in the recycle bin are easily recycled. I've always assumed that I can feel less guilty about the metal I put in the bin

I agree with a lot of this. I took a photography class in college and learned more on a borrowed old 35mm taking and developing black and whites than anything I have used since. People (myself included) tend to focus way too much on the g

Your post could have been made by me in 1995. I barely graduated high school and had lied a lot, mostly to my parents. I joined the US Air Force and some time in there, I just decided that lying was more trouble than it is worth. Now, I
