Well, off the top of my head C# doesn't support mixins or multiple inheritance. You can get around the lack of mixins with extension methods and tight scoping but it's messy.

Though technically correct, this (seemingly) common response to highlighted dates belies the fact that no, 12:24 12/24 is in fact more rare than an arbitrary other minute because of the pattern in it's configuration. Sometimes pedantry gets

This is an incredibly touchy subject, but something that I always come back to when tragedies like this happen is that if a disturbed person wants to hurt people, guns only make it easier. What does this mean in practice? It can both be an

It depends what companies are recruiting for. Tech companies recruiting software engineers have a much different crucible than a top flight consulting company (deloitte, mckinsey etc.)

The taxi/airport analogy is almost there but needs one extra tweak for correctness. In that analogy the ISPs would be the state / local government that built the roads. They would be trying to extract additional money out of the increased t

i am confused by your assertion that languages other than c++ can't support call by reference, there is a pretty clearly defined 'ref' keyword in c# that allows for exactly the behavior above.

My understanding is that VC's, partners or associates, whole job is to source deals. It's their job to take meetings. What happens after that meeting is the tricky part.

One of the more elegant ways of handling this, .net does a great job of integrating with unmanaged (COM, i'm looking at you) resources.

So not to be that dude, but ... "The King is dead, long live the King." refers to the accession of a new monarch. It implies in the language an immediate, uninterrupted rule of the line. It should not be used when something has died, and it

It does amount to the same thing. If I am writing a mechanism to charge for ads based on traffic, one of the first things to QA/write test cases for is fraudulent traffic. The leap here is from facebook being remotely competent (which is li

In my mind having an in-house bot network and being totally ignorant that you're charging for bot traffic via ads amount to the same thing. This is very, very bad.

A bone to pick with the name: Leading "." in filenames usually causes the Finder (and ls) to omit the files in listings. Maybe not a great look for an email app.

It wasn't so much that the medallion system is bad, as defined as limiting the total number of cabs on the road, it was the exemption that the medallion owner didn't have to drive. This leads to cartels of medallion owners that make huge pr

The math on the valuation of the shares is a little more complicated than 1000mm - 300mm / 24mm. The rumor that I heard (need to substantiate somewhere) is that the options were priced at a Facebook valuation of around ~75bn. It's impossibl
