This is an important point and what I wish the author had made. Your choice of where to live is determined by a plurality of factors that are hard to boil down to 'satisfaction' vs. pay.

Where do you think Blackberry is going though? I would wager it'll be worth less than 4bn in 2 years time, where-as investors are banking that Snapchat will be worth more.

The .net benchmarks, the http listener one in particular, uses threadpool tuning that actually hurts performance. In my own testing there was another ~60% performance to gain with better tweaks.

What are the downsides of a small TTL? Why wouldn't a low TTL be default?

Or Postbox, which also still works just fine under Mavericks.

It seems like they're trying to stoke artificial demand (similar to the Mailbox.app roll out). Except I doubt there is a real technical problem backing said slow rollout.

The "consensus" isn't fungeable like that; it's derived from block chain length (i.e. the size of the chain of previous transaction blocks)

This is, actually, a real concern. So many companies that want to make a foray into enterprise sales don't think carefully about things that (on the surface) seem inconsequential but are actually hurting your business.

We switched from Bitbucket to Github because of Bitbucket's reliability issues. YMMV.

Yep, you set up each developers machine as a remote, but you pull from them (rather than push). Helps to pull to a separate branch though.

Why can't you ship a basic driver with the kernel that is guaranteed to work with all modern video cards, and then have a website download board specific driver when it comes out? (i.e. the current situation on windows anyway)

I'd settle for < 4 second load times on the pages within their shitty web based interface. The old steam was snappy and fast, new steam is a bloated pile of garbage by comparison.

Unity has made good strides in making developers think about linux as a viable target for development (and streamlining the process). I'd say there is hope. Especially as most (and I'm guessing here) PC revenue comes from Steam an

I would love to run mono in production, it's just so slow and buggy that this isn't possible. The simple fact is that server is not a priority for xamarin; mobile is. And this is probably a valid optimization. BizSpark helps thoug

these distinctions are not for consumers, they're for IT managers when they're rolling out across a large number of machines, not all of which may be 64-bit compatible.

8k is also an OUTRAGEOUS amount of pixels to throw around. Unless you're eyeball to eyeball with a 40" display, your eye can't distinguish between 4k and 8k.

Tasks are still OS threads, though they get lumped into a threadpool so a lot of the overhead is mitigated (in most cases).

It's pretty ironic that Mono was a reaction to MSFT's licensing issues. Now we'll need the Mono equivalent for the Xamarin iOS api's etc. Mono-ception.
