Yeah most of my friends are content with a laptop with Spotify and a cheap pair of headphones. Definitely a different mentality.

I love vinyl not for the audio quality but for the ritual and commitment of putting the needle down on a side and listening to the whole thing. It's a really nice, anti-add way to listen to music.

if you have a standard ServiceResponse wrapper with meta information and a 'response' field that is the actual contents of the response. Leads to FooServiceResponse, BarServiceResponse vs. if you just have a generic ServiceRespons

Every time I have to write a duplicate XYZServiceResponse instead of ServiceResponse<XYZ>, I don't think "Hey I can't do stuff", I think "I have to copy and paste the same code AGAIN."

Awesome to see rapid progress on this. Curious what people's thoughts are as to milestones to where you would trust CoreCLR (on Linux) for a production app.

Honestly, I've been following along with these trends a lot and it seems like the answers for 1&2 come down to team size. If you have a bigger team, with more development inertia microservices can seem amazing and the tradeoffs are

you can torture the logic further: let x : Something = outer_conditional ? baz() : conditional ? foo() : bar()

short of having a language mechanism for doing an 'uninitialized' let, conditional operators could work: let x : Something = condition ? foo() : bar() but yeah, it would be nice to defer initialization of an immutable.

if you can attach and debug a process through sublime text, then maybe. as it stands there is no real replacement for visual studio (save maybe xamarin studio / mono develop)

Pro-tip; never do .ToUpper() / .ToLower(), use foo.Equals(bar, StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase), saves a string allocation also only loops over the strings once. For the truly anal.

I've run into issues with it from a programming point of view, you have to make sure to do a (slightly) more expensive case insensitive comparison when dealing with filenames.

the Sequence / Generator pattern in swift is analogous to IEnumerable, IEnumerator in .net, though I've found it's harder to implement.

https://github.com/aspnet/KestrelHttpServer don't need to wait much longer; it's already faster than nodejs for trivial benchmarks and getting better every day.

As far as .Net's future as illustrated, Android is not the preferred target for most mobile developers; iOS is, and currently the best cross platform runtime is based on mono/.net. Time will tell if cross platform server software
