SF isn't really putting facial rec on hold though, they'll just use other biometric identifiers. They also already have pervasive cameras and license plate recognition so they can track people really easily. This also won't s

This is a bit of a red herring, there's still cameras on everything, including previously banned "red light cameras". They'll end up calling it "biometric something" to get around the ban anyways.

I think you're spot on here. I always saw a lot of one-upsmanship in terms of harassment and being offensive, but eventually it got real. A friend of mine jokes that "weev won the election" and I'm not sure how wrong he

I agree, its completely fabricated. There's only one believable thing in it - the failure of the school.

Yeah, but some people still seem to think leaving it out there is a good idea. It baffles me frankly.

This story is so unbelievably fake. Its like the antivaxxers who claim that they "educated" nurses and everyone started clapping, it has to be a joke. The only believable part of this is the school being complicit with bullying.

They already force people to use plastic for EBT/Foodstamps so I think they're trying to protect people who're marginalized, but they're not.

TLDR; I think my city leaders are completely wrong on this and their anti-progress stance is terrible. San Francisco needs to a beacon of progress and not a pothole on the way to advancing society.

Good point, we have no idea how many private repos have been compromised and I assume people won't come forward either. The messed up part is that the repos are probably worth waaaay more than the ransom, especially if the companies ar

"A GitHub search reveals that at least 392 GitHub repositories have been ransomed, so far." That is a lot of pwned repos. I wonder why GitHub hasn't sorted this out yet.
