"Kündigungsschutz" (employment protection) is actually something different. It basically means you can't be fired except for one of three reasons: 1. Reasons in your behavior. For instance, if you steal from the company. 2. Reasons in your

3 month to end of the quarter was more common in past in germany. And it goes both ways. Its actually to protect you as an employee. Its a contract thing. If you had wanted you could have changed that before signing. But its not unusual for

I think Google will do nothing about this. If the Yahoo users are not satisfied jwith the non-google experience they will install apps from then android market that do use Google or whatever they wish to use. It would be interesting to see

The real reason why Flash is not on the iPhone or the iPad is: Apple gets 30% for every purchase in the AppStore. With Flash on the iPhone many could go around that. This is also the reason why there are no interpreters or a JVM on the iPho

That would work on the ipad too, wouldn't it? But I too, think that the missing multitasking is a problem for this device. I think this is something Apple will change soon. They will not change their app store policy. This is the main reaso

Firehose gives you all the tweets in almost realtime. Its the big brother of the gardenhose. Its not publicly available. I would like to know what the conditions are to get it. Is just asking nicely enough?

Here in Europe we have subsidized mobile phones that are not SIM-locked. You have to sign a 2-year (or more) contract though. Why is that not possible in the US?

Subsidized phones do not need to be locked to one carrier. In most of Europe most of the phones (with contracts) are not. The subsidy is protected by the contract period. This seems to be different in the USA.

It's really annoying to find out what you cannot do with non-signed midlets. For example: 1. Your app cannot browse directories without the user being asked for permission on every change of directory. Try deveweloping a file browser with t

Yes, the Android Market is not open. But the Android OS nonetheless is. If you buy the Android Dev Phone 1, you can modify and compile the source as you wish and flash it onto that phone. No "hacking" necessary. If you buy a locked-in versi
