I see this question a lot...why microblogging? Why not just stick with email? As twitter has shown, there's value in the posting of notes about what you're observing, reading, thinking. I like to think of it as messaging without guilt. Emai

Not entirely surprising. Newspapers don't have large audiences of niche-focused readers. Put a particular story on one of those sites, and it will see more traffic.

I disagree that the "blogosphere" is dead. The rise of TechCrunch, HuffPo, etc. have succeeded in increasing blog readership. The personal voices are still out there, are still part of the conversation.

Agreed - might have gotten busy for 37 sites, but would be nice to see the points where some sites fell off. September does seem to be a rough month for several sites. FriendFeed isn't on there, but its traffic is off as well. Cyclical?

The email notification is probably the biggest thing. My Gmail account right now primarily consists of notifications. Which gives me comfort that others are seeing these as well. So I know that when I use various social media sites, others
