reddit has some of the worst mods I’ve ever seen in any capacity. And they’re frequently in control of massive subreddits. I remember when hate speech was just discovered as a reason to ban people, and mods of major subreddits would find wa

Ah yes, the site that refers to its users as "Daily Active Shitheads," and promotes vigilante armchair detectives to ignore the FBI and accuse random innocent civilians of being world class terrorists.

- Modern problems require modern solutions. This sounds creative and ballsy. I'd be intrigued to see more. - If the answers are so basic and guessable that one can both find and then deal with a printer to commit it to slow-RAM physica

Software for maintenance devices shouldn't be written so it forces people to use a cloud service unless they can guarantee that will always work. There's about 1000 points of failure in that. Actually, I'm pretty sure DVDs an

When you're cooking a dinner, you already bought all the food as a pre-paid expense for the most part. Or it's ambiguous enough as things are finalized yet that there's some certainty in how many people will actually show up

Reminds me of when I logged into a gmail account I forgot about for like 13 years. Google asked me to verify I'm a not a robot, so I did. Then it said I "couldn't be verified" anyway so I did it again, but it gave me lik

Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn’t google the weather on my work computer because it might have some crazy exploit or cause an alert. DevOps guy here is just running a Plex server and probably pirating porn on his work laptop because why not

They’d probably either jump straight to requiring a phone number or ssn and try to write it off as “there’s no other way to verify you’re a real person.” We seem to be going this way already.

There’s apparently a lot of people upset about Twitter for trying to manage misinformation. I’d like to see equal information leaked from Fox for comparison, who should have journalistic integrity since they’re a news company. It seems weir

Could you help explain why the general consensus seems to consider Amazon as a just given backup and easy interview path (but the hard part is the actual job crunch apparently)? They still do leetcode screening don’t they? IMO they’ve been

I used to love these. When OneNote first came out, it was everything I ever wanted and more. I think the later versions got worse. Eventually I switched PCs and it had an error syncing my notebooks. There was a mix of local and cloud copies

PayPal created an account without ID, they can close an account without ID. Using your logic, couldn't people just open a fraudulent account because they didn't present an ID? That is a much worse outlook. The account (email) that
