Maybe we could have privacy protections before assuming every adult in the US is a child until giving random companies our PII? That would be cool, but not holding my breath. Edit: of course, downvote the comment pointing to Americans havin

It's basically talking about the impact on the environment and which class of society will end up benefiting from AI. I thought the article was pretty clear, and a message we as a society should be discussing more, especially with the

One thing I see missing in a lot of these discussions is whether or not the metric is solely based on speed. I think AI just allows you to look at your code in different ways and provides more chances to catch mistakes. I am definitely slow

Fair, and maybe some people should see this, but the article alone is not that interesting. It quotes the president saying what anyone vaguely aware of politics might already be able to infer. My comment should have been more clear that the

Not sure why this narcissist gaslighter is in the HN feed. Not very thought-provoking content.

The moon is probably the only celestial body humans can actually occupy with current technology, for every other object in the solar system we need robots.

Meanwhile people using a copilot proxy [1] with a third party harness have zero issues. Very clumsy enforcement if not a bug. [1] https://github.com/ericc-ch/copilot-api

I think grouping all porn as exploitative is a stretch.

I don't think this even requires a source, it's completely made up.

The pro plan does include Opus usage. I've noticed the limits on the web client are a bit higher than through CC, but probably more because of the increased token usage of agentic coding in general. Claude web is actually pretty good f

I get that it's a volunteer system, but having donated for 2 years to help support their Lemmy instance, it's frustrating it's been down for 2 weeks without much of an update, just a hint "there's a good chance"

WSL1 is not Linux because it is mapping system calls from the Linux kernel ABI to NT. That sounds like what you're describing. WSL2 is a Microsoft distro running in a VM that integrates into Windows. I use WSL2 every day and it has som

I was confused by the "barking up the wrong tree" opener because the parent commenter was not contradicting that line of thinking either. Though destroying property is not going to get anyone anywhere, that I can agree with if tha

Where in the Constitution does it require us to give up our privacy to private companies with little oversight? Seems like there's contention here. https://journals.law.unc.edu/ncjolt/blogs/under-surveillance.

I did read it, and it seems like a political witchhunt. Also, comments on HN are actually not that credible on average.

It wasn't? There are those kernel protected msedgewebview2.exe processes Microsoft shoved into Windows 11, actively making performance horrible.

I'm really surprised by the sheer scale of how many websites this outage is affecting. We really need to decentralize all of these monolith clouds.

There's a lot to like about HN, but it's worth acknowledging that the "good parts" are only half the picture. Anything that questions moderation or site culture is routinely flagged as "crankiness" and buried.

This type of story kind of summarizes my feelings towards these mega rich people in general, it's not a coincidence they're spending most of their time self-preserving and building bunkers [1]. [1] https://www.wired.com

My split was more 40% GPT-5, 60% GPT-4o. I think GPT-4o was better at communicating over interpersonal issues, but it ultimately depends on your perspective.

I use Msty a lot for personal use. I like its ability to fork conversations. Seems like a simple feature but even ChatGPT's UI, which everyone has tried to copy, is fairly limited by comparison.

Unfortunately this also seems to pave the way for cronyism, and people climbing up the ladder without merit to back it up. What should be considered is a balance between soft and hard skills.
