Why don't they integrate something like nailgun? Run a JVM in the background and redirect command line execution. http://www.martiansoftware.com/nailgun/background.html

The latest git SHA1 sum is not enough to check. The interesting part for intruders are "grafts": "Graft points or grafts enable two otherwise different lines of development to be joined together. It works by letting users record fake ancest

One of your links http://goo.gl/QlAfx is interesting, because it states what "marriage" means. Western means love, eastern means children. I was confused, because here (Germany) a marriages have financial advantages (less taxes). Having c

This will probably be an issue for the next standard C1X. I expect Boehm to get involved with this, just like with C++11. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C1X

The wierd thing is, you could translate this insight into a ethically questionable business idea: A website lists the wrong doers to humiliate them. Each crime gets its own list. Pay 5$ for "the jerk who cuts you off in traffic on the crowd

Die original idea was to replace the "x" with the right year. Since 2009 (C++09) didn't happen, it is C++11 now. Geeky would be hex: C++0B

Think about assets. What is the worth of your car, your house, your furniture, etc.? E.g. the car cost 20k initially, after two years of use, you discount 20%, so you put 16k into your books. Is that objective? Essentially, you have to pred

And SICP quits at this point? What if "previously-computed-result" is false, because f computes boolean values? This is just an 80% solution, which works for "fib".

Take for example problems you can solve with map-reduce. Very easy to parallelize. From the application developers point of view there is no concurrency or synchronization necessary, because it was already solved in general by the framework

It is not "parallel programming", which is hard. Concurrency and synchonization is.

Yes, this is legitimate criticism of git's philosophy. However, in practice i have seen those broken revisions in svn just as well. People forget to add untracked files or they skip the final unit test run. Basically, I believe your critici

And that "one data structure" is a directed acyclic graph of objects, where an object is one of four kinds: - blob (like a file) - tree (referencing trees and/or blobs, like a directory) - commit (referencing one tree and other commits) - t

Git is fundamentally pretty easy, but its terminology is confusing. Maybe this glossary helps: commit: a snapshot of your files tag: a reference to a commit branch: a moving tag HEAD: the current branch index: the next unfinished commit git

I wonder why mathematicians use this funny i-notation? You could write complex numbers as vectors, e.g. 2+3i <=> (2,3). Of course, it is more terse to write i instead of (0,1) and this seems to matter a lot to mathematicians.
