A comment of appreciation which I think a lot of OSS devs don't get due to threads being filled with criticism or pessimism. Sorbet is great - chuck it on your core entity's and core methods and boom it feels great. Thank you team

I also think people forget that Robinhood was made with Python, Reddit used Python, Github/Gitlab use Ruby. Stripe AKA payments that need to be processed fast within SLA's use Ruby. Ruby and Python can only ever have one thread ru

May I ask what your path to where you are now was? What programming languages and areas did you focus on while job searching? Is leetcode + system design the ultimate way to get these interviews like TeamBlind says?

Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, Nike, Adidas... As far as I'm concerned you want to use a SPA when you have dynamic interlinked state. None of these sites have that. You give up so much simplicity going to SPA its kinda crazy and again I s

Interesting, it seems like the big three are New York Times, Financial Times and The Economist. Would love a curated weekly service for the best articles from all of these papers.

Personal opinions inbound... I agree with this but I really would have 0 use cases for Rust. I am not a systems programmer or really want to be. I prefer product focus and user interfaces. I would not want to do typical web back end program

I'm keeping watch on Crystal and Zig personally. Crystal looks like a near perfect language for my style with one major caveat being compilation speeds. I'm a sucker for a dynamic language feedback loop, I'm curious how Nim i

Very interesting. This sounds like a response to the Mighty [0] launch which Paul Graham has been defending on twitter recently after an outcry from some of the 'hardcore' developers such as Jonathan Blow [1] and Casey [2]. [0]

This is an interesting take so here is my small input. Sometimes I wonder if the language matters or the community/ecosystem for the domain is more important. I like Java myself but is it ever used for a small SaaS startup? Does it hav

I'm on the same boat as you. I'm envious of game devs, I do not know what went wrong in web land that we can not have great smooth user interfaces and smooth animations. I'm sorry but the DOM is not it and is holding us so fa

Checkout Crystal lang one (Ruby but fast), https://github.com/benhoyt/countwords/pull/21/files seems to keep readability intact and committer is saying it outperforms Go which is interesting.

Crystal is a really nice language to me. If it had some large ecosystem behind it and wasn't boring I'd be able to use it to replace my other preferred boring languages of Java (strong engineering focus and long standing systems)
