I feel the same way, except it has been quite a while since I've read a good usenet-style rant, so I indulged. The correctness of an idea vs the expression of the idea are not related. You can be "right" and horrible at explaining or "wrong

Investors and founders have had to become more creative and seek other ways to exit ($$). Only a handful of companies have made it through the SOX morass. So, it does seem logical that they are better. But, to suggest SOX might have actuall

Maybe I am very naive, but how does unencrypted WiFi mean that anyone can do anything they like to me? Can they mess with my https, ssh or VPN connections? Can they inject content into regular HTTP pages?

These Google links have become worse than Flash for me. I would really rather just read the article and look at the pics and not have to "sign in" and everything that entails.

I dunno. Think about Steve Jobs recruiting for Mac engineers with a pirate flag flying from the building. If 'pirate' then == ninja/rockstar now, you might be missing a great job.

bwarp, I find your stance ... distasteful. I have kids and I monitor them as appropriate. The idea that all Internet connections are now "age verified" is just getting the infrastructure in place for more serious censorship. And the idea th

$40/month? It's almost free! And, if $40 really is a big deal, I doubt you would bite at $20 or even $5; you would just do it yourself. Or, at least comfort yourself with the idea that you could.

How about printers that secretly record tracking info on each page you print? Or the code in PhotoShop that makes sure I can't scan money? We know about these now, but only because they were discovered. I'm not sure if it is even possible t

Is it illegal for a judge to think? If one side presents a really bad case, do they have to lose even if they are right? I've experienced this myself, so maybe my comments should be thrown out as biased.

These clean and crisp ideas are dangerous if you just repeat them (news stories, cocktail parties, management retreats), but not if you use them as a way to evaluate your other ideas, plans and so on. I do agree completly with how annoying

Does this mean my MacBook would be tax free?! I could live without milk for the rest of my life, but not my computer. Oh, and I love the way you slip in "lean" meats. Your own political agenda at work.

Because it feels like irresponsible reporting. Fine for the Wall Street Journal, I guess, since those readers know what it means. I guess I should be happy if this is comparable to the "Apple is doomed!" stories that used to be in vogue.

Do you have any data to back this up? I've been tasked with getting rid of old computers before (at a large company) and it was a very painful process. Schools wouldn't take them. I can't even imagine trying to send them to another country!

I love the idea of using an HTTP POST to send email. I guess I'm the guy who has no idea how to use MIME, but find HTTP painless. Plus, whenever I try and configure mail on a new system, especially an EC2 instance (or whatever) there are a

I think because "screens" are 2-D and little kids need to learn that things are 3-D. Also, screens don't have texture. Everything on a screen is artificial, which is fine once you understand what it is trying to represent, but not before.

When using Windows, one of my first troubleshooting steps is to reinstall the program. I (almost) never do that on the Mac. I'm guessing part of the reason is that Mac OS detects corrupt files before they are installed.

Isn't "Discoverable" another way of saying this? It can and does work. It's fun to find a feature or learn how to do something new. Examples: iPhone. No manual (probably there is now). It's unbelievable, really. But, you have to admit it wo
