Half the point of CPAN is "installability", it is trivial to d/l and install lots of modules. There is also CPAN Testing which drastically helps portability. Can Java really compete with a Perl module that has a long list of dependencies (5

A karma 3 account. Where are the Perl-hating trolls coming from on HN? (I thought Guido said that it was time to stop trolling, so it isn't Python people now?)

As an Android newbie -- how easy is it to get out kernel patches to [all these millions of users'] phones? (No, I'm not a black hat -- I don't have a hat of any colour.)

You're arguing with a Karma 30 account. It took some time before the trolls woke up in this thread. (I'd love to get access to the HN logs and check IPs, to see if the trolls where sloppy with using alternative access and can be identified.

If the Orion project in the 1960s hadn't been stopped, we might have viable interplanetary colonies already. Also, if NASA hadn't poured most money into the shuttle (and hence had a reason to kill competing projects, for job security) the s

According to Wikipedia, it seems to be a perfect storm of incompetence, weather and (understandable) preoccupation with WW II. Also, your reference doesn't fare to good there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bengal_famine_of_1943

Democracy is, more or less, the only way to get human rights for citizens (a little simplified, but not by much). So you're saying that rule of law, women's right, etc (see e.g. the UN declarations) are just Western propaganda -- other peop

You could tell people about statistics for rule of law, protection of human rights and economic development in different types of societies -- that is, informed decisions in a secret voting process?

Yeah, the colour range is much better on the iPad 3 than on the iPad 1. That is a bit irrelevant. I'd rather have 256 levels of grey on a retina than a good colour non-retina. I can't get good readability of text (both web and A4 documentat
