Some money advice: Don't use a retina display. :-)
I recently saw my old iPad 1 at my ex gf. It was the best screen I had ever used -- now after an iPad 3, it was just horrible.
- bornhuetter 14y agoDo you think that's just the resolution, or also the quality of the display? I think the iPad 3 is a better quality screen as well as higher resolution. I tried a lot of latpops when I was in the market, and I found the ones with a higher resolution TN panel were worse (to my eyes) than lower resolution on a high quality IPS.
- berntb 14y agoYeah, the colour range is much better on the iPad 3 than on the iPad 1. That is a bit irrelevant. I'd rather have 256 levels of grey on a retina than a good colour non-retina. I can't get good readability of text (both web and A4 documentation) together with quick page turns (no eInk) otherwise. I could use something else to watch movies, etc.
- CrankyPants 14y agoRelated aside: the consistency of lighting across the viewing angle on my iPad 2 was far better than on the 3. (It was scarily uniform on the 2.)
