Obama was charismatic and an excellent speaker. But overall, a pretty middling presidency in terms of actual accomplishments.

Prevention of what? Regardless of what we do, there will be people who are out of control and pose a danger to others. That will never go away.

Right, but I believe halving of rewards also keeps the compute growth in check somewhat. I suppose it just depends on how BTC price increases vs the halving timeline.

Well, the rewards for Bitcoin mining are zero-sum so the demand will never really be infinite as the miners need some amount of profitability.

What do the kids have to look forward to? The reality is that homeownership and other pieces of the American dream are far out of reach for many of them and will be for the foreseeable future. Couple that with the constant stream of climate

This isn’t fair at all. Previous Twitter had just as much (if not more) political bias in their censorship decisions as Elon.

I don’t think that’s the case at all. Previous Twitter was receiving a direct flow of censorship requests from Government officials asking them to shadowban or remove users. This was pure political speech censorship.

That is an interesting theory. I think we often forget that most of the indigenous people who died from disease never came in contact with Europeans directly and disease burned through the population moving from tribe to tribe. I’d love to

Can you elaborate on the “things are about to get worse” part? Rising temperatures will possibly open up vast areas of Russia for farming. Like the US, they are not a net loser.

This is well established: Generally, women will pursue men with higher socioeconomic status, men do not make a distinction and optimize for sexual attraction.

I don’t think that's true. Most large contracts are cost-plus. Contractor direct costs + some agreed upon margin.

“Slaves built the US” is a silly idea. I hate how you get racial with your comment, but since you want to go there: literally 90% or more of America from the 1700s through the 1900s was physically built by on the backs of Protestant white l

This simply isn’t true. The Native Americans’ sense of conservation and “living in perfect harmony” is some romantic fantasy. There are many records of large pre-Columbian settlements exhausting resources (like game and trees) and abandonin

Gotcha. So taking n overlapping samples for the song, fingerprinting then vectorizing each. Then doing the same thing for the captured sample and getting nearest neighbors. I’ve used dejavu for a personal project and it is quite fast. Is th

Ahh, I see. The approach here is just getting vector nearest neighbors. I guess I don’t see how this could work like “Shazam” when you’re comparing the vector of some sample to the vector for the whole song.

It is naive to assume increased tax revenue doesn’t equate to increased power for those who control how that money is spent. It is OK to make an argument against taking power from one group by force and giving to another.

Justice seems to only work when a case is high profile. Every day, lazy DAs are giving lenient plea deals for terrible crimes hoping that no one is paying attention. Unfortunately, usually no one other than the victims are. I don’t know wha
