I think half of the people in the US use Snopes to confirm their beliefs and the other half disregard Snopes’ findings and put them in the biased media bucket.

Small cities died because of increased crop farming efficiency, factory livestock farming and decreased heavy industry/manufacturing in the US. I absolutely love the doomerism in your second paragraph. If you listen to those who buy in

Not all or even most subconscious influence on decision making is bad. There is plenty we can’t yet quantify and fully understand.

Timezone offset from the US is difficult. Many lost days because of unanswered blocker questions during their working day. Very strict almost pedantic adherence to instructions. Much less creative problem solving.

Trees have entered the chat. Living trees will grow faster and harvested lumber successfully sequesters carbon indefinitely. Even crops we consume have non-negligible amounts of carbon sequestered in soil as they decompose.

But doesn’t this make a huge opening for someone like the US to step in and say: “hey, we will bail you out and stop China from interfering. Just sign this treaty and let us occupy with some troops”?

Good point. The answer is: Ridiculously high Government subsidies. In other words, this is simply a stealth tax on the public where the only winners are corporations which benefit via very generous tax credits.
