Frankly, use the style that is idiomatic to your code base is what is the most important. Keeping things consistent is what matters. And if you start a new project, just use the style you prefer and enforce it :)

> Use your AI to put email into the spam folder. Refusing it outright is a case for the European Commission which hopefully will slap you another few billions of fine onto the wrist until you remember to play nicely with the other kids.

> Gmail does not, inherently, have any network effects This is wrong. The current situation is "if you want to reliably contact gmail users you need a gmail address". This is no different than Facebook or messengers. And that m

You can always disable it using 'sysctl -w vm.overcommit_memory=2' or have more control with vm.overcommit_* various sysctls. In the general case, I found that overcommit is usually more useful than strict accounting, but I agree

Fully agree. I am in the same situation as you, and I even relay my emails through my ISP SMTP to avoid the issues such as 'residential IP marked as spammer'. And yet, Gmail will randomly classify simple personal emails. It is the

YMMV. I relocated from Paris to SF as a senior dev, and I am going back after 1 year. Yes I was making like 3x more in salary, but then housing in SF cost at least 2x more than in Paris, commute is just as bad, healthcare is a mess etc. And

This is not about "city = good, suburbs = bad". It is about "walled garden = bad". The point of the article is that all those campuses are isolated from the local community, and it is not good because it does not help to

awk is really, really powerful. It is fast, and you can do a lot very efficiently just playing with the 'FS' variable. And you can find it on all *nix boxes. And it works nicely with cli other tools such as cut, paste, or datamash

This is funny, mosh saved my day a few days ago to reliably access a workstation connected through Comcast Business from an ATT Uverse home connection... For some reason the SSH sessions break (timeout) every 2-3min. I tried everything, but

GCC has some built-in limited support for that: - 'ifunc' attribute [1] allows you to dynamically select the implementation at load time, which simplifies the usecase where you just want to have a single binary but use optimized

I am curious about how does it compare to streaming loads? It is a common technic to avoid cache misses when you have a large number of registers, you can issue loads in advance, by-passing the cache, and the CPU will manage the data depend

I understand that, and having a DSL is definitely a good idea, but you need to create a community, which can be hard (and NVIDIA seems to be good at it). I didn't want to be deceptive, I just wanted to highlight that it was not just a

You have to take into account that Titan are super cheap compared to FPGA. Big FPGA boards for HPC can easily cost between 5k$ to 10k$. If you compare to GPU in the same price range, you end-up with K40 or K80, who have a peak at 4.3TFLOPS
