This is huge. Running on the emulator is good if you haven't paid the $100 to put it on device yet. After that, you better be running on your device every time. There's so much to be said for actually holding the device and using your app l

Great site, only problem I found was some wording at the bottom: "I was built by Simon Reed & Chris Mahon. Simon made me work they way I do and Chris who gave me my good looks." Simon made me work THE way I do and Chris -who- gave me my

I assume you take your desktop and monitor on the subway with you too, right? ;) I made it for me, then decided to hell with it, I'll submit it so others can read stories/comments too.

A coworker and I have hacked Siri up to do some interesting things for a project (all NDA unfortunately) and are very interested in getting her to function flawlessly with a Bluetooth device.

I was hesitant to try ARC at first - all of the tutorials I saw started with storyboards, which was terrible nonsense, and I wrongly equated that to ARC. I still think about where my pointers are, I'm just writing less code now and I love i

Fuck this mentality. What do we, as a collective community, say to the companies that can't mutate their business models because a player in the field has changed things up (for better or worse)? We tell them to change or die. Why is this a

I had an update get pushed in 4 days (two Saturdays ago till the Wednesday after), and just submit a new app this Saturday. For those interested, here's a shameless plug: http://subvertapps.com/HN - it's a HN reader with, what I think, is

I'm a designer - by formal education and by thinking style. I graduated with a BA in Art. By trade, however, I'm a developer. I get paid to write, formulate, and conceptualize iOS Apps and how they connect with Android, our web services and

And it's the first time I've seen it. What exactly is the point of the negativity? If it's annoying to the community as a whole, it won't be voted up. If it isn't, and you don't like it, you're wasting energy by clicking and commenting sarc

Don't worry, I think I've done those things already. In all honesty, I have the hardest time getting the word out about my apps - so this is an attempt at a departure from my usual. I used to have a Wordpress site that I just posted screens

Yeah I see what you're saying. It is now this: iOS meets Finger Painting The best part is its price. No Monet necessary.

I just threw the word painting in there, so hopefully that'll help clear initial confusion. Good point though, conveying meaning is pretty important.

Ahh yes, you're right. The hour hand should move .5 degrees every minute after the hour. Haha I can't believe I didn't reason that out.

“Calculate the angle of two clock pointers when time is 11:50." I know the correct answer is supposed to be 0, but the hour hand moves closer to hour+1 as minutes approach 60. I guess I would ask for a compass. Another fave is: “How many qu

I hate Storyboards - I can't even come close to manipulating views/subviews the way I want to with them. I love dot syntax. Writing myArray.count is a lot easier than [myArray count] and then when messages start getting nested it bothers me

I'm of the "do both" camp. Personally, I like starting out the interface in .xib because of the wysiwyg style - I've been an Illustrator and Photoshop design guy for much longer than I've worn my iOS Dev Hat. By laying out areas of apps in
