I agree, I could not write it better myself. Going down one level and finding a better way to express the sugar around `map` and `flatmap` on Monads (and then `withFilter` in Scala) without resorting to compiler magic would be really cool a

I am not that familiar with Rust, however every time I see it I am more and more impressed. One thing that I don't see here but which I think it might be important is to grab the stack trace in the failure, or atleast the Filename

Pretty Cool! I wonder if it's possible / how hard it would be to port to Pebble.

Same things? I don't know what you mean, It was a language feature back in the 2.7 days I think? I was a long time ago, hard to remember when they got rid of it. It's really nice for this: val color = List( "Red",

Heh +1 to `trailing commas! I think that's the only "feature".` I don't know why they were removed in the first place.

I don't understand what features they want to add beyond type lambda's, singleton types, and literals for bytes / shorts. 1. I understand if you spend all day making shapeless / scalaz the lack of sugar for type lambda&#

Migration tools aren't panacea they don't fix stackoverflow answers, pdfs, blog posts, existing tutorials, talks, slides, examples, mailing list posts, or irc logs. They also require locking a codebase and making massive changes a

I've written/read/reviewed lots of Scala code and can't remember seeing it be an issue. Certainly not a huge one. I'd like to see a pointer to that thread if you can find it so that I know what to look out for. Mayb

Will the tool scan github, epfl papers, and the rest of the internet and fix the Scala there, which is still being produced using procedure syntax?

I disagree with this line of reasoning that because procedures are actively harmful, procedure syntax should be removed from the language. My contentions are that that declaring that procedures are actively harmful is incorrect, further m

I really wish they'd stop grouping procedure syntax in with things like xml literals and forSome syntax. Procedure syntax is still used a majority of the time when able judging by the commits on github and it has several benefits where

The really slow compiler performance was quite surprising. I switched back to coffeescript (then eventually switched to ScalaJs where they are much faster) because they were so long.

First of all, if you watched the slides, you just ran the first `hello world` Scala-js app in your browser. The slides use the scala-js runtime. Developer tools have scalajs-runtime.js at 1.7MB compressed and about 4s to download/exec
