I usually set the Ireland locale, they use English but use civilized units. Sometimes there's also a "English (Europe)" or "English (Germany)" locale that works too.

I find it's still not that difficult to have that "special power", but you have to adapt your tools. Before the only tool you needed was Google, now you need to know which one to use for each type of request. I mostly juggle

Not all of them. For example if you open a conversation in messages it slides left, and you have to wait before you can scroll. When you cancel a route in Maps it zooms back on your position and you have to wait before you can move the map

Sounds like your experience was some time ago. Banking with “traditional” banks is still slow and bureaucratic, but not to that point. And online banks let you do everything online quickly.

I’ve been using myname.com for email for a long time, but to be honest sometimes I wish I hadn’t. It sounds weird and kinda braggy to give in person. Maybe I need to buy a domain that sounds like a generic email host.
