I don't think Google's going to kill off Gmail (at least any time in the short to medium term). On the other hand, I can see the following things happening: 1) Google kills of Groups in favour of Google+ 2) If not (1), Google limits Groups

The best RSS clients that I've found (Reeder for iOS and Pulse for Android) both use Google Reader as a backend to keep the feed list in sync. I don't really want a whole ecosystem, any social features, a fancy web site, etc. All I really w

Cool, thanks for the rapid reply. For the record, most of the interface seems to look and work just fine on an iPad. Keep up the good work.

Yep, I find it helpful to think of D3 as a data manipulation/data binding library rather than a data visualisation library.

Very cool. I really like the simple approach and feel there's a _lot_ of mileage in it. However, a couple of questions/points: 1: How do I give my documents a title? 2: Does it support Markdown/how do I link to stuff? 3: The home button doe

Indeed. Google Docs suffers a lot from discoverability and, while you can collaboratively edit on it, it feels too much like a locked down blob of content and so suffers from a lot of the same problems that Word suffers from (in my experien

I've often thought that something like this is what's missing from the various online Markdown editors that exist. Many of them have some way of quickly previewing what you've written, which is important, but some sort of content-focussed a

I think mean comments, such as you get on Hacker News often have a grain of truth to them. That such emotion is attached to that grain of truth suggests that someone likes your idea or cares enough about your product or the area you're focu

I totally get that it's different to what's in other frameworks (the router is similarly different), it's just that, for the most part, on the surface, it pretty much serves the same purpose (other than some relationship stuff that half wor

Without meaning to offend, I'm afraid I have to take issue with your points about Ember-Data. Yes it's optional, and yes you can use jQuery.ajax or whatever, but in reality, it's not quite that simple. The official guides in Ember default t

As long as the person saying it understands that the majority of people already working at said company, and the majority of people who would otherwise be interested no longer will be, I think it's fine.

It sounds like they're making an iSlapBracelet to me. That means the whole surface would potentially be a screen with just the part facing you being active. I kind of wonder where else would be appropriate to wear it other than on your wris

It's funny because (on Chrome at least) you can select the "request desktop version" option from the menu and this goes away completely (although you do still have to login).

It seems that most people here would like it very much if SEO died a horrible death as quickly as possible. Let me try and paint a (probably somewhat sketchy) picture of why it should exist (I have nothing to do with SEO consulting btw): 1.

One of the main problems I've found when trawling forums looking for answers is that the answer's often buried somewhere far down in the thread. I think Discourse suffers from this same problem and doesn't really do anything to address many

It really depends on who your intended user is. If the slides are intended to form a presentation (quite likely), then the user is often the person making the slides in the first place. In such cases they're not a usability disaster at all.

I'm fairly new to Clojure, but am not new to bash (and its ilk), so tend to view the threading stuff as Clojure's version of bash's piping syntax (I realise they're not the same thing).
