I remember downsampling things to a barely-listenable 32Kbps just so I could fit the maximum amount of content onto 16 or 32 megabyte SmartMedia card in my Diamond Rio.

I suppose it could be argued that the DOM might change on a page, but the text content is less likely to. We want deep links to the text content, not the DOM element.

If he uploaded his photo maybe it was facial recognition associating him with group pictures in his friends accounts.

I wonder how they're going to re-enable it. Can they disable group FaceTime only for people who aren't on the latest iOS version once it's patched?

I’m positive this will result in some hardware changes for next gen devices.

ICQ had a character-by-character mode they experimented with for a while. It was kinda fun. BBSs too.

They also have visual cues enabled by default. The light turns on when it is listening. You quickly get an idea of when it is recording and when it is not. And it rarely falsely triggers.

Well stated point. I disagree with you but will certainly not downvote you.

Unrelated, but I'd love to know how that article managed to get a picture of that Facebook sign without people standing in front of it. I drive by it daily and I've never seen it without people posing in front of it :)

There is a reason you can't edit a video after it's uploaded. Because you could upload a good video, get it to go viral, and switch it out with an advertisement or something else that isn't worthy of attention.

Apple is really stepping up and showing Google it has some power. When they broke the map relationship with google in 2012 I was super skeptical, as were many. But in a very apple-like way - it's starting to come together. I still use

It actually makes me appreciate how reliable youtube has always been. I never even consider a youtube link might not work perfectly when I click one.

I think that was by design. Trying to sweep it under the covers to avoid outrage. I share that article with friends and they're likely to read the first half of the headline and not bother reading it.

I've heard the horror stories, but delivery for me was amazingly smooth. I signed a few pages of papers which were already prepared, and got a 10 minute tutorial on features, and drove out of there less than a half hour after I arrived

I have no doubt this is a direct result of the feedback in the hacker news thread. Googlers read our comments and take them seriously when there is true merit. Keep making noise folks, it matters.

My iPhone X is at 90%. You don't think it's worth the $29 + trip to Apple Store?

I would love to, but Firefox just feels more clunky. Not sure what it is, but the scrolling doesn't feel native to me (MacOS, Magic Trackpad and Logitech Mouse)

This is what I tell everyone when they kick themselves for not buying BTC when it was $0.25. You would have sold them the second they hit $1.00. The only people I know who got rich off BTC are those who found an old wallet on an old drive i
