Exactly. They're giving the least information possible to formulate a coherent headline which is technically accurate. If they told the truth in the headline, it would get WAY more clicks. These are clicks they don't want.

I tried that 'jk' thing way back, and I seem to recall it introducing some lag. Like a few milliseconds so it could process and see if you were hitting the followup key. Just enough to be annoying.

Have you not enountered sites that app-wall you? Sites with useful content, such as Reddit - not allowing you to view the user-generated content unless you install their app? It sucks - but it exists.
