My colleague actually still has 1.6 on his Motorola Clique (T-Mobile) And his phone is going to stay that way, last week Motorola gave up on rolling out a 2.1 update for that model. https://supportforums.motorola.com/message/246279#24627

There are other permission granularity problems on Android, too. I wrote a streaming media player and want to listen for when the phone rings or goes off hook so I can pause. In order to this I need to access a permission that lets me read

Smart of them to offer the program "free" right now while there's buzz about it. I can't find anywhere on the site what the up-front cost would be on, say a laptop or a cell phone. Lack of clear pricing makes it hard to successfully critic

I found that much of the "noise" on Facebook comes from the fact that I had too many "e-friends" at even 100-110 people. It was still well under the Dunbar[1] threshold, as I knew who they all were and could probably spend an hour on each o

This is what I did; I have an N1 and an iPhone 4, and every now and then I swap my SIM into the N1. Just needed to get a MicroSIM adapter off Amazon and everything works great.

Almost everyone under 35 I know who has met a long term partner online and used a dating site used OKCupid. I've known some older 40+ people who used match.com. I'm 29, met my (now) wife on match.com* 6 years ago. At least here in flyover

I thought the same thing when I joined SO a few months ago, and agreed with a lot of what was written in the blog post. But, then I decided to give SO another chance just now. I posted two answers and in ten minutes got enough upvotes to g

I can look at all the streaming content on Netflix and know it'll play on my computer, iOS device, Xbox, TiVo, Roku, whatever. Hulu, however, has content that is web-only. For example, I can't watch the Simpsons on my phone, only on the we

A coworker and I have had this same problem while trying to book a place for a trip in May. Places show up as available, but the owners then reply with "well, that's too far to tell, I might not even have this apartment then." It you're no

While you have a good point that it's unfair to claim people who didn't attend university are narrow minded and immature, it isn't any better to say the four year university experience is universally a four year long constant party. I know

I was under the impression that music (venues, bands) was the last bit of territory that Myspace was able to defend. My wife and I have turned into old fogies and don't get out to local rock shows much anymore but the few garage bands I've
