It seems like this might be moot soon since unlimited data seems to be going the way of the dodo anyway. Assuming the T-Mobile merger goes through, Sprint will be the last carrier to offer it. AT&T had also started cracking down on peop

If I am at a cocktail party, and something is said among a group of friends, I know I won't "out" anything if I only discuss it later with those who were originally within earshot. I appreciate how Google has brought this into the electroni

Two Soyuz, actually. They need two because the ISS now has a six person crew and one Soyuz has only space for three people. Also, I had no idea until just now that each seat is for a specific person, because the Soyuz seat is custom-fitte

Cheap shot - they also likely copy/paste screenshots in to Word and mail those around too, instead of just mailing the actual graphic file. :) When I was in consulting doing software integration work, few things infuriated me more than cl

They had one of these parked at the Google I/O after-party this year. From looking at it -- specifically, that big wing where you'd normally expect a bumper on a car -- it made me wonder what would happen to the aerodynamic profile of the c

I tried putting a free app of mine up on the Amazon store just to see how quick it would move compared to Android Market. It sat in the approval queue for 2-3 weeks, long enough that when I got an email from them about it, I totally forgot

Is this particularly new news? This extension was the first thing I tried Wednesday night when I got into the service, and it didn't export anything but profile URLs. I had to make a throwaway Yahoo account to export my contacts.

I personally find Twitter to mostly be noise, so I really got no value out of that real time stream result. If I really wanted to search Twitter results, I'd have gone to the Twitter search page, not Google.

Sadly the hangout feature isn't implemented in the mobile app; it's the top feature on my wishlist. It's something I'd certainly like to be able to use on my tablet for sure. The only "real time" group conversation feature is "Huddle," whi

The interface is really nice on a phone. Clean, very responsive. The image auto-upload is a really spiffy feature, but I feel a little creeped out about it, even if it does upload everything to a private Picasa album and I need to act to

I assume that if this is true, this would be evidence of them putting a lot of money on the "re-launch" of Google TV. Google TV was a bomb for me when the cool unified streaming TV search feature didn't actually work in reality, because Hul

I don't scrape, but I use an EC2 micro instance as a VPN endpoint when I am on an unsecured wifi network. It's a little annoying that some sites block me solely because I'm coming in from AWS (StackOverflow, I'm looking at you).

By default, Android phones store apps on an onboard storage location that is separate from the SD card. On some older phones there is not a whole lot of space here. For example it didn't take a whole lot at all for me to fill up my Nexus

Why don't IPTV services like FIOS and U-Verse do the timed DVR recording on the headend side, and stream it down the pipe when someone wants to watch it? At that point the STB needs to only use the onboard storage as a cache for the the tri

The next best thing is to stay really late, after everybody has left. I don't have an office to hide in, so when I'm on a deadline at work, I'll just come in late and leave really late. I get a ton more done when I'm there alone and nobo

I wish I read these reviews before buying the game, because every last one of those reviews is well-deserved. I know no game can ever be good enough to match the 13 years of false starts and anticipation inherent in DNF. If I waited 13 yea

This takes me back to the first summer internship I had, where I was plopped in front of an SS5 back in 1998. I was a 17 year old kid who had a 486 at home, so this machine with no removable disks whatsoever really perplexed me. Then I re

This actually may solve some problems I had been trying to wrap my head around in an app I'm designing. The existing method of introducing documents into apps (using iTunes) really sucks, I wonder what the iCloud API will look like.

I wonder what the fallout from folks like Instapaper and Tap Tap Tap will be. It seems kind of shady for Apple to say Tap Tap Tap's Camera+ couldn't have volume button as a shutter (because it was a UX rule violation), then six months later
