It's probably not a callout post and more of a venting/"talking about my day" kinda post.

The author (disclaimer: former coworker) has likely learned about UDP before yesterday because he's been complaining about TCP for years.

Why does a web server have significantly more cold start overhead than whatever is receiving requests and passing them to the handler in the classic lambda case?

Yeah no you certainly can do that, but imo it's kinda weird when it's not even something important or anything.

You could also respect the author's desire for this audience to not engage with his takes and move on. Either works.

It's a usage that predates and conceivably inspired Google-brand Chrome (and by contrast arguably Rust?), referring to the UI parts of the browser rather than, I think, rendering and javascript and stuff.

I mean, it's a way to set priorities. Even it turns out not to be an iron clad guarantee, having taken that pledge means when people end up taking too much time fixing bugs, it's already consensus that that's not acceptable,

I think they meant the other way around, someone pays $5 for a VPS to spam unauthorized requests to your S3 bucket to get Amazon to bill you $1000.

You shoulda decided whether this is a "economic sanction" infraction or a "we can't let you drive for safety reason" infraction. If you decided it's the former, you shouldn't get to change it to the latter

That ruling is really exasperating. The judge not accepting that the size of the tetris field is part of the rules of tetris is really weird to me. The tetronimoes don't even look similar in their comparison given the constraints of sh

Yeah it's definitely an improvement, but even with the "after" screenshot I can't imagine voluntarily using this % scaled rendering. I'm going to turn into a bitmap font absolutist.

That's a weird rhethorical flourish. If there isn't a need to prioritize work to fix the thing we're complaining about, I guess we can stop complaining about it.

Nice writeup! What a fun genre of crime! Aside: I understand the tradition of affixing the title of the submission with the date the submitted article was published, but I really thought I was gonna learn about a 2022 game here. :(
