I also tried replacing my monitors with a Quest 2. While the idea of not needing space for monitors and have your setup anywhere with you is cool, the resolution just wasn't there yet.

Yup, while an LLM might know a cat in language contexts, I know what petting a cat feels like, both physically and emotionally. Can run little physics or visual simulations in my head etc., and have needs and drives which are obviously all

I’m not convinced the language part of my brain isn’t just a complex probability machine, just with different trade-offs.

His videos are fun and well-edited. It’s usually superior entertainment to a random Netflix show. That’s enough for me. I also really enjoy how his feedback loop has resulted in the videos gradually having reached absurd scales.

While not the dreamy part you asked for, you can already play the Zero G battle part in “Echo VR”.

You don’t even need a special situation. If I’m at the convini for food, but also happen to need socks/shirt/underwear, and it’s right there, why make a separate trip somewhere else to buy it?

I love how every news outlet reporting this will essentially be forced to link to the author's site if they want to include the image.

Interesting, eliminate the drone part and that actually makes sense. Have a few very high resolution cameras at a distance, and you could NeRF a similar view unobtrusively.

I wonder what the FOV is? Assuming not great as it wasn't mentioned at all.

Personal favorite: Cosmodread. It’s a procedurally generated spaceship horror game where you must gather resources and not get killed by monsters to escape.

Super extravagant, but to blow $150k any random weekend you "only" need to be making ~$10M/year. A massive amount, but I'm guessing even many HN users have businesses making in excess of that (feel free to invite me to y

Whether this works depends on how comfortable the dev is picking up the phone. I had a local site and was just too terrified to do this, so I just kept my site up unmonetized (unlike OP it wasn't costing anything). One day two salespeo

I’ve noticed this happening often enough that now when I need to do something hard, instead of trying to do it, I think “I’ll just attempt it for 15 minutes to learn more about the task”. Sometimes it turns out the task I had been dreading

I'll mention one which I didn't write, which I found pretty cool. iOS app "Friday" lets you use to talk to ChatGPT. It seems to be just simple glue (I'm sure there are many similar ones) between speech recognition,

Maybe playing around with a lot of new frameworks, APIs is actually what you want to be doing? Maybe you don't actually want to make something popular that you'd then need to maintain, as that's more boring. But let's as

Every other week to play a round of Echo VR, do VRChat and check out what’s new in the store (but then not buy anything as everything feels too expensive). Used to play almost every night when I got Cosmodread, but managed to complete it.

My habit is to cancel right away when I start a subscription. You can still use the service for the month you paid for, and it's easy to restart it if you do still find yourself attempting to use it a month later.
