Easily missed, but at the bottom of the page they're selling a SkiFree shirt[1]. I got one for my birthday a couple of years ago and it's my unashamed favourite geeky shirt I own, even though it looks a bit silly and isn't a

There's some cool things to note about Xi which make me more excited about it: * It's being written by Raph Levien, known for his work on Inconsolata, Ghostscript, and font-rs[1] among other things. * The design goals includ

I feel React.createElement is so unergonomic it's not really an option to use directly. A lot of React supporters mention it when people criticise JSX, but I don't think it's a pragmatic alternative.

I can completely see myself using this on my Postgres projects, but something like this would be most useful for me at work. How feasible would it be to port this over to MySQL / MariaDB? I know EXPLAIN output on MySQL is much simpler

Along the lines of your analogy, I wouldn't have papers strewn all over the desk, I'd have them in a pile or in a folder. Reversing the analogy I feel this is similar to using bookmarks or saving a list of links.

I've been interested to try programming using proportional fonts for a while, but really like ligatures and don't want to do away with them (I'm using Hasklig at the moment.) Does anyone have a recommendation? I'm having

Culture is one of the vitally important things which make us unique as humans. Both as an Australian and as a linguist it's painful to understand how quickly indigenous culture here is being lost; my narrow and focused view is on langu

All of my other code workflow (terminal and editor) is in a dark theme, having to switch to GitLab to review an MR can actually be quite uncomfortable to do because there's such a leap in contrast. The dark theme I use is Dracula[1], i

It's quite frustrating seeing people complain about Git usability like it's some broadly accepted and objectively bad thing. As frivolous as anecdotes are, I took to Git very smoothly and I found it to operate in a very obvious an

Very impressive, and as a developer who prefers using languages with strong type systems, I'm particularly intrigued by efforts like this. Most of the examples seem to contain 1.5MB of JS. My gut feel is that it isn't terribly low
