It will be interesting if any major game engines pop up using Rust as the core language, or even Go. C++ has been the king of highly optimised game engines for so long, I can't help but feel it has become so entrenched in the industry

Out of interest, how are you getting your data changes at the NodeJS level to automatically propagate to the Meteor clients? Or by "NodeJS" do you mean you're using the full Meteor stack?

You've got to wonder, does matrix multiplication happen so often and is it so inconvenient to call as a function that it's worth complicating the syntax? I'm really not sure about this one.

My introduction to programming was before I was 10, my dad showed me some simple stuff in Basic and bought me some Basic picture books which contained source code for entire games which you could type in yourself and run. Those books were e

Usually calling something the best is entirely subjective, but I believe due to the closed ecosystem surrounding Visual Studio, competitors don't stand a chance regardless of how bloated and cumbersome it is. It's also interesting

Was it not an option to make a public statement to back down on the stance? I can't help but feel this is entirely unpragmatic.

I'd call that the static compiling approach, not just the Go approach. It's possible to statically compile in a wide range of languages.

I'm patiently waiting to see if Rust can solve two of the three points in the "when to use it" section without sacrificing significant performance.

Nearly all thought processes deal in abstract concepts directly without being wrapped in language. Language is a transport mechanism for sharing these abstract concepts from one one brain to another, not for processing in the mind. The ide

My hope is that the core of Atom isn't so bloated with GitHub integration and that integration is optionally available through the plugin management system. I'm of the type who prefers to use the text editor just for code and oth

OOP doesn't necessarily imply inheritance, I use composition quite a lot in JS because it tends to make code much more readable for others. Complex object hierarchies in prototype-based languages can become very confusing very quickly
