I agree completely. Just the way the market is going proves that this society is built on a foundation of pure instant gratification to such a level that they can't even understand the realities of a pandemic. We're FUCKED at this

I'm currently loving the draft of the book. I'm moderately well off with javascript, but I've never used typescript before so I'm working on figuring that out as well. In any case, it's a wonderful book with plenty

It's unfortunate that we as a species cannot prioritize the health of the whole over preoccupied defensive posturing in order to hide all weaknesses. Like a decayed tooth that's just a shell of its former self...

Thank you so much, I'll ingest this into my system, haha. Also, very cool results, that's really impressive! I'm a computer engineer by trade (primarily FPGAs), so it's always great to see other FPGA engineers (hi!). :)

I have always been fascinated by a paper on barrel shifters myself. I think you would enjoy this as well: https://www.princeton.edu/~rblee/ELE572Papers/Fall04Readings... In particular, logarithmic barrel shifters

Yes, I also agree with you from a moral standpoint that it doesn't seem right, but if you agree to their terms by creating an account, you play by their rules. Honestly, the point I'm trying to make with the baker analogy is only

Is it not the right of private companies, social media or otherwise, to choose how they distribute information? Also, the only division I've ever seen is from people who can't handle a coffee cup that says "Happy Holidays&quo

I disagree wholeheartedly with this mindset. It comes back to the question of whether a company should be able to deny the service of a customer based on its own internal decision making. So lets use a real world example, how about a baker

Please describe a 'militant' atheist perspective unironically. :) When you contrast it to any other type of 'militant', there is typically violence involved.. However, personally, I think the closest thing I could believ

No, the Artix-7 is a bottomless pit of LUTs, DSPs, and BRAMs. You could probably fit a ton of 6502's in it.

it's sad that he tries to validate his idea by evangelizing to laymen instead of trying to convince "big science" of his ideas. My dad was and is the same way -- everyone is in some massive conspiracy plot to misguide the pub

The chaining kind of reminds me of how z80's ALU works [1]. It's kind of chained in together over time. [1] http://www.righto.com/2013/09/the-z-80-has-4-bit-alu-heres-h...

Cute little cpu! I like the OPR instruction, neat way of handling increment/decrement (DEC by way of NOT and INC). Are ROR and ROL also chained? That's neat too.

I realize this article is much more in-depth than the view of this author, but.. Yeah, it's amazing how the approach to this has shifted. Imagine if the Allies in WW2 had just complained about the Nazi cryptopgraphy and 'outlawed
