Spotify had a nightmare of a time getting to that point. Same with Floatplane, a streaming platform from LTT. If you actually try to copy Spotify / Amazon you find out very quickly they have exclusive deals and their own account manage

It can be annoying on IOS. For example OPFS only works inside worker threaders, so you may design your app to access OPFS from the app + OPFS from postgres and realize OPFS isn't working in half your app... Happened to me when I built

PGlite / ElectricSQL is definitely something I want to use in a future job. The ability to replicate and subscribe to the changes, all within the browser seems incredibly powerful. Having worked on medical software that runs a 2,000,00

This is exactly what an API backend needs in 2024. I have a poor mans version of this made with Fastify, but it would be great to see a completely native REST server with OpenAPI 3.0 built in, and the only means to create routes. At one of

Probably to be fully autonomous, vs guided like aider. I still think a tool like aider is where AI is heading, these "agents" are built upon running systems that are 15% error prone and just compound errors with little ability to

So does arxiv.org just let anyone publish a paper now? It seems to be used by AI research a lot more now instead of just a blog post.

When someone is bike shedding you need to show how trivial what they are talking about is. "Oh it won't work because it will break xyz" "Okay so what does it take to fix xyz?" "maybe a day or two" "..

Can someone explain to me why there are _SO_ many boiler plate projects being created in the last year? Why do you need 300 different boiler plates? I use one that I know very well and can build quickly in. Like holy shit, Reddit is a ces

I was going to say might as well swap it back to regular thermal paste, but looks like they used a thermal pad, which is good too. I get that it's more efficient at moving heat, but I cannot a worse place for liquid metal than a laptop

Nice of them to reinvent the adblock wheel. Apple has mastered taking what should just be a customizable plugin and making you wait 10 years for it.

Is it really that good for backend? 1. You will still need to learn JS, and now it may even be embedded in PHP depending on the type of app you are working with! 2. It still has horrible conventions, arrays being sorted maps has to be one
