That's dumb. The purpose of decentralization isn't to simply demonstrate the strength of the decentralization. It's an element that helps something achieve a purpose. In this case, the ability of a person to be their own bank

Your analogy is wrong, and so was mine. It is not the refs banning players, it would be the television sports broadcasters. Makes even less sense.

Imagine this response in the context of a sport like the NBA. If the ref is secretly racist and bans you from the sport because it's "funny" as their excuse, would you react this way? The nature of videogames doesn't mak

No, it just means your eligibility for a professional career may come down to whether or not a random mod on a streaming platform simply thinks it's "funny" to ban you.

That even questioning whether it may be happening is itself a fascist assault on democracy.

This is exceptionally hilarious considering the Washington Post's (Bezos' paper) perspective on voter fraud this last presidential election.

True, but my comment that the image isn't on the blockchain is still accurate. IPFS is not a blockchain and content can be changed.

The funny part is the image itself isn't even on the blockchain, it's centrally hosted somewhere. The token is just a pointer. You can ruin it by having the actual content taken down, wherever it is.

It's funny till you realize the same thing can be done to people who aren't weirdos too, like for revenge porn and hacked nudes.

Not really a problem on the face of it. If literally everyone in a company is talented, how can that company have any hierarchy or structure without it being claimed that talented people frequently don't rise to the top within the comp

It's easy to blame the media. But they do these things because we demand it. If they don't show it, we'll flip to the channel that does. The problem is all of us. It's our culture, and partly our human nature.

Politicization and factuality are directly linked. The more politicized a publication is, the more willing is to reach to find facts that fit its narrative, and to craft misleading (or outright false) claims.

People want to spend what they hold, and most people who hold crypto hold Bitcoin.

I don't necessarily know if this is relevant. Coinbase's custody business is a relatively small (but growing) branch mostly for institutions. Its consumer product is not driven by the fact that it is custodial, but by its function

Ehh... I wouldn't assume that's the whole reason. It's been known for a pretty long time how to not have a baby if you don't want one, physically. Two other factors are religion, and the fact that children are now expens

False. The objective of crypto isn't to force everyone out of the banking system, it's to provide an ability to opt-out and be your own bank for those who need or want it. If you want to use a traditional bank or custodian instead

You're conflating things. When they say "transaction fees" here, they're referring to blockchain network fees (which they previously covered for users, before network congestion), not buy/sell fees, which they have

Coinbase's primary function isn't to supplant blockchain transaction volume, it's to provide a fiat gateway to acquiring cryptocurrency. Transaction throughput on ethereum only helps Coinbase, because it makes what they sell
