As a resident who likes to breathe clean air and drink clean water, none of that seems all that bad. I guess there should be an ability to do this farther from the population centers though.

I can't dispute anything the author says. In fact I'm pretty sure he's right in almost all his articles. But man, big tech is a joyless place to work right now.

I know some people like that: the insane nest egg and that security _is_ their quality of life and the blanket they sleep well under. Their current consumption doesn't matter too much to them.

But it used to. In the post war boom it definitely used to produce enough value to support several people. And we're far wealthier in aggregate now than before, it's just distributed badly now.

Maybe. But last I checked the trades pay horrible and destroy your body by 40. Every story of the trades pay well is just "be a trades business owner" well okay, but basically every alternative "be a X business owner" pa

This right here. When Silicon Valley was cheap enough to live in that people could casually start a company in their garage... Then people didn't have to relentlessly optimize for short term comp. Today you have to work at FANG to affo

Luxury has the same cost of land and utilities. Costs like 15% more and sells for 30% more. Building economy is a losing proposition.

If you don't mind me asking, how many are you starting with now? Because three is a lot. And if you're starting from 0 or 1 today, I can't imagine you actually want six.
